Intercon was established in 1976 and has become a leading manufacturer, importer, designer, and supplier of solid wood furniture, selling over one million tables, chairs, and china cabinets annually. They have remained a family owned and operated for over 30 years and is an industry leader in classic, quality furniture, including dining room, bedroom, home office and entertainment. It is their mission to continue producing exceptional products with lasting value at the right price.

Intercon designs, engineers and develops all of their own products. they also maintain their own quality control team in Asia and Europe to ensure proper construction and inspection throughout the manufacturing process. Currently, they operate warehouse and assembly plants in Fife, Washington; Salt Lake City, Utah; Lincoln Park, New Jersey; Atlanta, Georgia; Beijing, China; Vietnam; Malaysia and Slovenia. They also have a manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, which produces their Solid Oak and Knotty Alder tables.

Green Furniture

Since trees absorb carbon dioxide as they grow, it would seem that cutting down trees is a bad idea. However, when trees die they decompose and release the carbon back into the environment. When a mature tree is cut down and sawed into lumber the carbon remains stored in the lumber rather than being released through decomposition. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded that “a sustainable forest management strategy aimed at maintaining or increasing forest carbon stocks, while producing an annual sustained yield of timber fibre or energy from the forest, will generate the largest sustained mitigation benefit”.

Solid Wood

Since no two trees are exactly alike, and no two pieces of wood are the same, natural color and grain variations in wood products are normal. Wood texture and grain do affect the finish, so it is impossible to guarantee an exact match in finish between two pieces of furniture even though the identical finishing processes are applied. These natural characteristics give Intercon’s handcrafted, solid wood furniture its own unique quality.

The wood we use in our manufacturing process is kiln dried to achieve ideal moisture content. Since most solid woods are open grained and highly textured, the solid wood furniture will breathe - expand and contract - with normal temperature and humidity.
